Purple De Milpa Tomatillo - Pack
Physalis ixocarpa
Traditional/Reseeding
3-4 Ft. Tender Annual

Vigorous, spreading plant yields 2-3 ounce, 2 inch purple fruits which are delicious raw. The main ingredient in salsa verde, these tomatillos are a prized traditional strain. Sow 3-5 seeds in clusters, spaced every 12 inches, in rows two feet apart, after danger of frost has passed. Thin to 1 or 2 plants when 4-6 inches tall. Does not need trellising. Fertilize soil lightly with mature compost. Harvesting tips. Best time to pick for salsa is when husks turn brown and begin to open. With additional time, they will become more seedy, but sweeter, for eating raw.
