Russian Mammoth Sunflower
Helianthus annuus Heirloom 9-12 ft. Tender Annual/Reseeding
This old favorite that is easy to grow, was first offered by seed companies in the 1880s. It is still grown for its height and large, singular head. 10-14 in. flowers that perch atop the 9-12 ft. stalks. Can even get taller in the right conditions. Edible seeds are medium-large, thin-shelled and striped. Good for eating or for the birds. Annual. (110 days)
