It is always exciting to welcome a new associate to the team at the New Mexico Research Farm. Our new Research Farm manager, Erica Renaud is no exception. Erica brings a wide range of experiences working in sustainable organic agriculture for the public, private and NGO community. Previously Erica was the Research Farm Manager for Frontier Organic Research Farm in Iowa, after many years experience in the field as an organic farmer in Canada, grad school in agroecology. She was most recently the Sustainability and Organics Coordinator for ASNAPP (Agribusiness for Sustainable African Natural Plants Products), a USAID program through Rutgers University. We first got to know Erica through her work in South Africa, Zambia, Ghana and Madagascar where she was training partners in on-farm organic research design and organic production techniques, developing organic curricular and transfer technology, performing strategic planning for the natural products market, and working on environmental management and social equity strategy for sub-Saharan Africa. Erica is a kindred spirit in sustainable organic agriculture, agroecology and agroeconomics and we are happy to welcome her to the Seeds of Change family. Look for Erica's articles in upcoming eNewsletters.
