Seeds of Change Research Farm Associate

Seeds of Change, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico is seeking a hard-working, motivated individual to work on our 10-acre research farm on the Rio Grande, north of Espanola, New Mexico.

This position is primarily responsible for supervising the seed receiving and cleaning process at the Seeds of Change research farm. It requires specialized skills in seed handling and use of seed cleaning machinery. Besides coordinating and training other seed cleaning staff this person communicates with and provides information support to Seeds of Change contracted seed growers throughout the seed receiving process. In addition, this position works in horticultural operations at the Seeds of Change research farm. As a member of the research team this person aids in the growing and data collection of the Seeds of Change variety trials, breeding projects, and seed growouts.

Contributions will be made of written and oral presentations of information in the SOC newsletter, on farm tours, and at public conferences. The individual must work well with others and be able to cope with intense sun, mosquito attacks, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

The position is full time i.e. 40hrs/week, with some seasonal overtime. Flexible scheduling is required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

- Bachelors Degree in Agriculture or related field (Horticulture, Entomology, Soil Science)
- At least 2 years of hands-on agricultural field experience
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A passion for furthering the development of organic and sustainable agriculture
